MY SENSORY SPACE
Re-explore the relationship between the structure and emotions. Our structure should be interpreted as how we understand the selected materials and represented as how we see it. We are to explore spatial relationship and capture the essence and poetry of your own intention.
PROJECT BRIEF
After analyzing the assignment brief I got to know that we have to make a 20meter cube space for our self. I Identify key architectural design elements and principles and employ them in creating an architectural composition that demonstrates space-making.
DECONSTRUCT
Firstly ,I deconstructed my structure from project 2 to develop new tectonics structure for my own sensory space. I used the principle of addition & subtraction in design to communicate my idea well. My main idea was to make a complicate yet organized space for myself, using grid as It has a sense of organized the shows separation of healing for myself.
DESIGN INTENTION
I wanted to design a space that shows a healing process (transition of user getting out from a messy environment to a soulful scenery) A organized yet messy within a peaceful and comfortable space.
INSPIRATIONS
Study on the both Facade that embrace the nature. The both facade has inspired by the simple , organic, light and comfortable design. The Serpentine Pavillion by Sou Fujimoto, inspired me because of its form and lightness, generated through a 3d steel grid which gives dramatic constructivist futurist scenery which is almost similar to my design intention. The materiality the used like steel and fabric somehow creates a sense of comfortability, harmony for user because of its elements and softness
ERGONOMICS STUDY
Capturing my response through the understanding of ergonomics by doing measurements according my own body proportion.
SKETCHES
After developed the understanding of my sensory space, design principle and main idea, I came up with detailed sketches just to communicate my overall design intention to viewer. The drawing shows that how I am going to use the space by crawling, move body forward, sit/meditate and lean in the end to demonstrate my poetic narrative.
DESIGN PROPOSAL
I made few test models to test out my material and how it works in the space. I able to sort out few problems and new idea by doin there mock models which gave me clear way to kick start my final model
FINALIZED DRAWING
Finalized orthographic drawing using scale 1:10 for my space below :
MY SPACE
20meter cube Space and Sensory: Self - Exploration through Spaces with scale 1:10
My Sensory Space resembles
( DISCOMFORT, ACCEPTANCE & GROWTH) of myself ad as Healing process.
MY PRESENTATION BOARD
Sucessfully completed my final presentation, Thanks to my tutors and friends.
FINAL WORK
Compilation of my final work attached below :
REFLECTION
DISIPLINE SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE
I learned to develop further to create and develop a conceptual narrative, created self awareness in understanding the dimensional requirements of the human body (anthropometrics and ergonomics).
THINKING AND PROBLEM SOLVING
I managed develop skills in model making .I faced many challenges, especially in choosing the correct material for my space and getting inspiration. When I was advised to improve on it, I keep updated my progress to my tutor.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
I communicate well and interact with my tutor effectively whenever I'm having difficulties. Upon completing my poster now I'm capable to explore spatial relationship and capture the essence and poetry of my own intention in my future assignments
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
I've learned to communicate with my tutor whenever I'm unclear on certain directions of the task. I was keep updating my progress to my lecture in a short tutorial time with good communication skills.
