PROJECT BRIEF
In a group of 4, students are required to produce a series of eight (8) smaller models of 10cm x 10 cm x 10cm each to apply the design principle. After finishing the design principles combine both models together to produce a 20cm x 20cm x 20cm HYBRID FINAL MODEL
SHAPE EXTRACTION
In a group of 4, A shape was extracted from patterns made in Assignment 1, then create 2D geometric shape to develop into 3D
DISCUSSION
As a group we went through fair discussion on chat to finalize design principle for each team mates to develop to 3D model later.
BALANCE-DESIGN PRINCIPLE 1
My first design principle was Balance. I did few design process from the shape extracted to change into 3D. My initial idea was to create different sizes of squares in decending order to create a flow of hierarchy. The variety of squares transformations played a big part in this idea.
MOCK UPS
My first mock ups for balance just using simple sticks mainly to see visual and volumetric thinking of my overall 10cmx10cm model .I did not have more mock ups for this, as Its points, lines of design pretty obvious.
BALANCE-FINAL MODEL
More balanced diagonally left & right with use of larger to smallest sizes of squares. A simple white & black tones were used to showcase the scale and propotions are still same even the colour changed.
EMPHASIS-DESIGN PRINCIPE 2
I'm in charge of emphasis as my 2nd design principle. For this i used diamond shape and transform more same shape to create a unity . At the same time i use different colour to paint one of the diamond to make it more obvious .
EMPHASIS-MOCK UPS
The idea was tested out using simple cardboard as base, sticks and paper. I got the main idea after creating colour and structural emphasis on top between the forms.
EMPHASIS-FINAL MODEL
A 10cmx10cmx10cm piece was made to stand flat on plane with little height, so there is gold coloured emphasis in between of forms that can be seen in all view and elevation views as well.
COMBINATION PROCESS
After completing I proceed to integrate two design principles to one hybrid model. I futher communicate my design process. I add little changes where i decided to play with rotations of my first principle , then manipulated the heights one curvy and one straight while not losing my main design elements from my previous study models.
MODEL SKETCH
Integration of both Balance and Emphasis was hard progress. I managed to cope in the after asking lectures feedbacks and was done in a way to have both combined as a new identity. The idea was expressed in simple sketches .
HYBRID-MOCK-UPS
Tested out the ideas on sketch using cardboard, bamboo sticks and paper. I maintain the main elements from my both principle which was squares and triangle.
HYBRID FINAL MODEL
Here's the 10cmx10x20cm model with intergration of balance and emphasis together. Balance in the center/ focal point arranged vertically with multi-colours, whereas emphasis flows around the the structure in middle and creates attention on top .

REFLECTION
DISIPLINE SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE
I've learned real-life examples form my tutor's teachings. With these knowledge, I've learned To transform 2-dimensional form to 3-dimensional.I able to understand and identify basic design elements and design principles.
THINKING AND PROBLEM SOLVING
I managed three-dimensional space and object into two-dimensional orthographic drawings.I faced many challenges, especially in getting inspiration and re-analyzing mockups. When I was advised to improve on it, I keep updated my progress to my tutor.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
I communicate well and interact with my tutor effectively whenever Im having difficulties. Upon completing my model now Im capable to manipulate the elements and principles of design to achieve specified goals in the design environment.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
I've learned to communicate with my tutor whenever I'm unclear on certain directions of the task. I was keep updating my progress to my lecture in a short tutorial time with good communication skills.
